Platform Engineer
Job Title: Platform AVP Engineer
Pay Rate: £500 to £600 per day via Umbrella
Length of Contract: Until 31/05/2026 (and very high chance of contract extension as it's a migration project)
Location: London, Liverpool Street (Hybrid role: 2-3 days from Office)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Platform AVP Engineer to join a leading Business Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, and operation of global operating system platforms.
This role supports a business-critical infrastructure that includes on-premises Windows servers, cloud-based services, and enterprise datacentre environments.
You will troubleshoot complex system issues, participate in IT projects, and collaborate with global IT teams across EMEA and North America. The position requires adherence to IT policies and processes, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work flexibly - including out-of-hours support and occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor, and operate the Platform environment in line with company policies.
- Resolve incidents and tickets raised through IT service management systems.
- Support platform-related project work and deployment initiatives.
- Ensure systems are enrolled in capacity management and life-cycle processes.
- Collaborate with global IT teams to enhance platform performance and reliability.
- Participate in on-call support rota and out-of-hours operational activities.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Windows Server (Must have) and Desktop environments.
- Experience with Microsoft systems management tools (SCCM, SCOM).
- Knowledge of Active Directory, replication, Group Policy, and authentication protocols. (Must have)
- Familiarity with Cloud/SaaS services, including Microsoft Azure.
- Understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, IPv4, firewalls, load balancing). (Must have)
- Scripting experience (PowerShell) and automation of operational processes.
- Experience in geographically distributed, virtualized datacentre environments.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management knowledge.
- Degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
