Senior Business Analyst

Location - London / 40% onsite

Duration - 3 months intitially

Rate - up to £38ph (inside IR35)

Reporting into the Strategic Finance Manager, the role covers a diverse range of issues and services which contribute to an efficient working environment for colleagues across the business.

Key responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities, although not exhaustive, will be to:

  • Prepare the monthly business review pack for the Executive Committee and quarterly business review for the Board. This involves gathering a range of data from around the business to report on finances, business plan commitments and HR data. Running and writing Power Query, collating information from spreadsheets and processing data to provide additional insights (e.g. time recording and workplace attendance data).
  • Drive business process optimisation in the Finance and Procurement team by using automation and query tools such as Power Automate and Power Query to reduce manual effort. Advocate for the use of latest generation of productivity tools such as CoPilot and Dataverse to create continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain data visualisations using Power BI to deliver business insights on office occupancy, rolling forecasts and time recording to the rest of the organisation. Develop other productivity tools from scratch using Power Apps to replace legacy systems.
  • Coordinate the quarterly corporate risk review process: chair a quarterly meeting at working level to discuss key risks arising in the quarter, providing challenge on risk scoring, proactively encourage directorates to keep their registers up to date, collate and update the corporate risk register using Power BI, send the top risks to the Deputy Directors' group for review, before collating the updated risk register for the Executive Committee.
  • Lead on the relationship with rail industry stakeholders in relation to the safety levy and take ownership for dealing with complex issues arising. Manage the railway safety levy process: send out requests to railway service providers (RSPs) for relevant turnover information, respond to sometimes complex queries from RSPs, chase for responses where necessary, and calculate the levy due from each RSP.
  • Act as the contact point for internal auditors to ensure that the audit programme is delivered to schedule. Keep a record of reports issued, arrange meetings, and follow up on progress with audit recommendations.
