System Engineer

Job Title: Systems Engineer

Location: Bourn, South Cambridgeshire

Remuneration: £34.13 per hour

Contract Details: Temporary (11 months)

✨ Note: This role is full-time on-site, 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, configure, and test prototype devices, audio equipment, and motion capture systems.
  • Manage and maintain device networks, including setup and configuration of switches and related infrastructure.
  • Perform multimodal data collections using complex capture systems in controlled lab environments.
  • Debug and resolve issues ranging from localised problems to those affecting entire systems.
  • Contribute to hardware and software improvements to enhance data collection efficiency.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in systems integration and network concepts.
  • Proficient with audio equipment.
  • Industry experience with systems comprising hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Experience with Python, scripting, networking, and Linux administration.
  • Familiarity with systems integration, testing, and automated validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with a sense of responsibility.
  • Versatile skillset (generalist) rather than niche expertise.
  • Experience with networking concepts, protocols, and device configuration.
  • Background in motion tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of large-scale automated data collection and analysis.
  • Experience configuring and managing network switches and device networks.
  • Familiarity with audio equipment or digital audio data.
  • Proficiency with prototype hardware devices and Android/adb command line.
  • Experience in automation of configuration management and deployment.
