Are you a visionary Technical Architect ready to lead the charge in transforming the public sector? Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to provide technical infrastructure architecture leadership and design assurance for the Tech Fundamentals workstream. This pivotal role will ensure that Safe & Legal Day-1 requirements are met, enabling staff to securely access core systems, applications, and data during the transition to new authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Design Assurance: Lead the assessment of legacy infrastructure across councils, developing resilient transition and convergence options across networks, identity, Microsoft 365, telephony, and cybersecurity controls.

Current-State Assessment: Establish a baseline of core infrastructure, dependencies, and risks across all councils to guide informed decision-making.

Technical Standards: Create technical design standards and decision records to ensure consistent implementation across the board.

Risk Management: Manage technical risks, dependencies, and service continuity requirements with precision and clarity.

Collaboration: Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), delivery partners, and cross-functional teams to review current tools, enterprise platforms, and infrastructure constraints.

Key Areas of Focus:

Networking and connectivity

Microsoft 365 tenant and domain dependencies

Telephony and contact centre transition

Identity and access management

Cybersecurity controls

Essential Knowledge:

Expertise in technical architecture, infrastructure, networking, identity, and core services.

In-depth understanding of modern technology practises, including hosting, platforms, and open-source technologies.

Familiarity with agile and DevOps practises, encompassing continuous deployment, testing, and risk management.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

Translate business needs into robust technical designs while explaining complex issues in a clear, outcome-focused manner.

Demonstrate strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, effectively engaging at all levels.

Design and assure technical architectures that meet complex integration, service continuity, and operational resilience requirements.

Coordinate technical work across multiple councils, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.

Exhibit commercial awareness in technology decision-making and supplier engagement.

Essential Experience:

Significant experience as a technical architect in large-scale, multi-organisation environments, ideally within the public sector.

Proven track record in designing and implementing network, infrastructure, and identity integration solutions, including legacy estate rationalisation.

Experience in risk assessment, business continuity, and operational assurance during major IT transitions or transformations.

Proficient in working with APIs, microservices, and interdependent delivery teams in complex technical environments.

Desirable Qualifications:

Knowledge of cross-government procurement frameworks and platforms.

Commitment to reducing the environmental impact of technology.

Experience working with diverse user groups and senior stakeholders.
