Warehouse FLT Driver
A career opportunity for an IT-confident warehouse professional
Are you an experienced FLT Driver or Warehouse Operator who enjoys the practical side of warehouse work but is looking for an opportunity to develop beyond a traditional warehouse role?
We're looking for someone with solid warehouse experience, a current FLT licence and, importantly, good IT skills and the confidence to work with computerised stock and warehouse systems.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist manufacturing environment where you'll use the skills you already have while receiving training to develop your systems, product and technical knowledge.
You don't need to arrive knowing everything. We're looking for someone who is keen to learn, comfortable with technology, accurate in their work and interested in building a long-term career.
The role
Working as part of an experienced operations team, you'll be responsible for a varied combination of warehousing, stock control, processing and material handling activities.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Operating FLT and warehouse equipment safely and efficiently
- Loading, unloading and moving materials around the site
- Using SAP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to manage stock and inventory transactions
- Maintaining accurate stock records and investigating discrepancies
- Processing and packaging materials in line with procedures and customer requirements
- Recording waste, inventory movements and associated documentation accurately
- Checking products against quality standards and customer specifications
- Managing stock status, including materials awaiting quality approval
- Maintaining accurate, auditable records and paperwork
- Supporting on-time, in-full delivery performance
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping and workplace organisation
- Working closely with other departments to resolve operational issues
- Contributing ideas to improve safety, quality, productivity and efficiency
Develop your technical knowledge
What makes this role particularly interesting is the opportunity to learn and develop.
You'll be working within a specialist manufacturing and processing environment where safety, quality and accuracy are critical. Full training and support will allow you to build your understanding of areas such as:
- SAP and warehouse management systems
- Stock and inventory control
- Product and quality requirements
- Safe material and material handling
- Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
- Quality standards and audit processes
- Manufacturing and processing operations
For someone who enjoys learning new systems and understanding how and why things work, there is plenty here to get involved in.
What are we looking for?
We'd particularly like to hear from candidates who have:
- A current Fork Lift Truck (FLT) licence
- Previous experience within warehousing, manufacturing or a processing environment
- Good current IT skills and confidence using computer systems
- Strong attention to detail and an accurate approach to data and documentation
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing, Packaging, or equivalent practical experience
- The ability to follow detailed processes and procedures
- A strong awareness of workplace safety
- A positive, practical approach to work
- A genuine desire to learn and develop new technical skills
Previous experience with SAP, WMS, stock control, technical environment or IPPC would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in someone with the right core experience and the enthusiasm to develop their knowledge.
Safety & quality
Safety and quality are central to this operation. You'll be trained to work within established Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures, including the correct use of PPE, safe handling requirements and site operating procedures.
You'll also play an active part in maintaining standards, reporting concerns and supporting site inspections, audits and continuous improvement activities.
Hours & benefits
- Monday to Friday
- 37-hour working week
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- generous pension and benefits package
- Overtime and occasional weekend flexibility when required
- Long-term opportunity to develop specialist skills and knowledge
The role involves manual handling, including lifting up to 20kg, and is based within a warehouse/manufacturing environment.
Ready for more than just your next warehouse job?
If you're an experienced warehouse or FLT professional who is comfortable with IT, enjoys learning and wants to develop a broader technical skillset, this could be an excellent next step.
We're looking for someone who wants to become knowledgeable in the operation, take ownership of their work and build a long-term career within a specialist environment.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
