Business Development Manager – Public Sector (Cyber Security)
UK (Remote) | £80,000 Base + Uncapped Commission | OTE £160k+
The Mission
This is not an Account Management role. We are looking for a pure-play hunter who specializes in winning Managed SOC, MDR, and recurring security services within the UK Public Sector.
Our client is a specialist UK cyber security provider investing heavily in their Public Sector function for the 2026/27 financial year. They need a senior individual contributor who can navigate complex procurement, open doors from scratch, and close high-value recurring contracts.
The Role: New Business Focus
You will be given 4–5 warm public sector accounts to facilitate your ramp-up, but the mandate is clear: Net-New Revenue. * Sub-Vertical Ownership: You’ll be assigned a specific sub-vertical (Central Gov, Local Gov, NHS, or Blue Light) to dominate.
- Full Cycle Mastery: From market research and outbound messaging to closing and handover.
- Lean & Agile: No heavy SDR machine here. You’ll have the autonomy to shape your own territory and the senior IC mentality to execute without hand-holding.
- Activity-Driven: This is a fast-paced environment where initiative is rewarded over "waiting for marketing leads."
What Success Looks Like
- Cyber Pedigree: You have a proven track record selling Managed SOC, MDR, or MSS services.
- Public Sector Fluency: You understand the nuances of G-Cloud, DOS, and the long-form procurement cycles inherent to the UK government.
- The "Hunter" DNA: You have consistently closed meaningful Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) deals and are comfortable being measured on new business targets.
- Stakeholder Gravitas: Ability to engage with C-level stakeholders and technical heads of security.
- Bonus Points: Experience in Defence, OT (Operational Technology), or selling via Systems Integrators into government is a massive advantage.
The Commercials
- Base Salary: £80,000
- Commission: Uncapped & aggressive (High performers earn significantly above OTE).
- First Year Target: Approx. £1m revenue.
- Culture: Autonomy and accountability. No micromanagement, just high expectations and high rewards.
Is this you? This role won’t suit someone looking to maintain a mature patch. It will suit a self-starter who wants a lean environment, a clear path to £160k+ earnings, and the chance to build a legacy within a growing firm.
