IT Project Manager - Oxford

IT Project Manager - Oxford

My client based in Oxford is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to join their growing technology team, playing a key role in delivering business-critical IT infrastructure and systems projects within an innovative, fast-paced environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with technical teams to drive projects from concept through to successful delivery, ensuring infrastructure and platform initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard.

The Role

Working alongside senior IT leadership and infrastructure engineers, you'll take ownership of coordinating and delivering a portfolio of IT infrastructure and technical projects. You'll provide structure, visibility and governance across multiple workstreams while ensuring risks, dependencies and priorities are effectively managed.

This is a hands-on project delivery role rather than a people management position, making it ideal for someone who thrives on organising complex technical initiatives and enabling engineering teams to perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and delivery of IT infrastructure and technical projects.
  • Develop detailed project plans, defining objectives, milestones, owners, timelines, risks and dependencies.
  • Coordinate work across infrastructure, systems, platforms and internal technology services.
  • Monitor project progress, identifying risks, blockers and issues before they impact delivery.
  • Produce clear reporting for senior stakeholders, providing updates on progress, priorities and key decisions.
  • Ensure projects are fully documented and successfully transitioned into operational support.
  • Help establish and maintain project management standards, documentation and governance across the IT function.
  • Work collaboratively with infrastructure engineers, security, operations and wider business teams to deliver successful outcomes.
About You

You'll have a strong track record of delivering IT infrastructure or technical projects and be comfortable working with highly technical teams. While you don't need to be a deep technical specialist, you'll understand how infrastructure projects are delivered and be able to translate technical discussions into clear plans and actionable outcomes.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure, systems or platform projects.
  • Strong project planning, stakeholder management and risk management skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technical workstreams and managing project dependencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, (url removed), Smartsheet, SharePoint or similar.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or Scrum certifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
Desirable Experience

Experience within a fast-growing technology, engineering, scientific, manufacturing or highly regulated environment would be beneficial, particularly where you've delivered projects involving:

  • Cloud infrastructure
  • Network and server environments
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Endpoint management
  • Security platforms
  • Workplace technology
  • Infrastructure upgrades
  • Enterprise systems and business-critical platforms
What's on Offer

This is an opportunity to join an ambitious organisation investing heavily in technology, where you'll work on varied and challenging infrastructure projects that have a genuine impact on the business. You'll be part of a collaborative technical team with the opportunity to influence delivery standards and help shape future IT capabilities.

If you're an experienced IT Project Manager looking for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
