Senior Business Systems Analyst - Cheshire
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to join their Application Services team. This role plays a key part in driving and enabling business change across IT systems and operational processes.
Working closely with subject matter experts across the organisation, the Senior Business Systems Analyst will act as the conduit between business stakeholders and IT technical teams. You will ensure system changes are clearly defined, fit for purpose, and successfully delivered. The role also includes mentoring Business Analysts, supporting project delivery, and contributing to the continuous improvement of project and business processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead requirements gathering across multiple business areas using appropriate tools and techniques
- Produce clear, detailed functional and system specifications for technical delivery and testing
- Work closely with development teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements
- Mentor and support Business Analysts within the team
- Provide project management support for assigned change initiatives
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure delivery on time and within budget
- Conduct system testing and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for internal and third-party solutions
- Coordinate and deliver user training where required
- Support the Head of Application Services in reviewing and improving project and business processes
- Represent the IT team and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Essential:
- Proven experience in a Business / Systems Analyst role within an IT development environment
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience with project planning and change management
- Ability to produce detailed functional specifications suitable for development and testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Certified ISEB / BCS Business Analyst
- Experience using Jira and MS Office applications
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Desirable:
- PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner certification
- Experience within the Financial Services sector
- Extensive end-to-end experience delivering IT system projects and change initiatives
- Proven experience transitioning projects into Business-as-Usual operations
- Some project management experience within a software development environment
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Confident presenter, able to communicate business, technical, and project information clearly
- Proactive, flexible, and solutions-focused with a “can-do” attitude
- Collaborative team player with an energetic and positive approach
- Customer and results oriented
- Comfortable working in a small team environment and under pressure
