Software Engineering Manager - Manchester
Salary: £80,000 - 120,000 per year
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Developer, or in a similar technical leadership role
- A desire to move into, or recent experience within, an Engineering Manager position
- Experience working within a fast-paced Agile software delivery environment
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching capabilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical challenges clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem‐solving and decision‐making skills
- A strong technical background, ideally with exposure to Golang, React Native, and/or TypeScript
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of approximately 8–10 software engineers, supporting both their technical and professional development
- Ensure the team understands company and departmental goals, and that engineering and architectural best practices are followed
- Mentor and coach engineers, helping individuals achieve their full potential
- Work closely with Product and Project teams to ensure development priorities are understood, estimated accurately, and delivered on time to a high standard
- Collaborate with peers and senior technical staff to identify opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement across engineering and delivery functions
- Create a positive, collaborative, and high‐performing engineering culture
