We are looking for a smart and curious individual with a passion for problem solving and software development to join our Reverse Engineering Team in Nuneaton (UK) as our new Software Engineer.

Your day-to-day role will include:

  • Cryptanalysis of algorithms
  • Analysis of various microcontroller architectures
  • Using IDA Pro
  • Logging vehicle communications (CAN Bus, K-Line)
  • Developing C/C++ applications for our tools
  • Using Python to develop in-house routines for vehicle communication
  • Testing procedures on various vehicles
  • Participating in Scrum meetings and reporting to the Scrum Master
  • Using Jira to track tasks and activities

Who we are looking for:

  • Degree in Automotive Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency in C and embedded systems development
  • Understanding of software development methodologies
  • Recent graduates are welcome to apply
  • Strong ability to learn and absorb complex information effectively
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of automotive electrical systems, networks, and architectures (CAN Bus, K-Line, J1850)
  • Experience with garage diagnostics is an advantage (ISO 15765-2/UDS, Keyword 2000, DoIP)
  • Experience using automotive logging tools (e.g., Vector CANcase, Intrepid neoVI)
  • Knowledge of transponder technology
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, software and hardware security measures and vulnerabilities
  • Experience with at least one of the following cryptographic algorithms: AES, DES, 3DES, RSA
  • Knowledge of automotive bootloaders
  • Cryptanalysis experience
  • Good mathematical understanding of cryptographic algorithms
  • Experience disassembling binary files using IDA Pro
  • Cross-compilation experience
  • Familiarity with assembler instruction sets for one or more of the following architectures: MC9S12(X), NEC V850E1, Renesas RH850, Intel x86, Intel x64, MPC56/57/58
  • Knowledge of hardware side-channel attacks, including Voltage Glitching, Clock Glitching, and EMFI
