Service Designer Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Service Designer to join a high-profile programme within the aerospace and defence sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Service Designer with strong DDaT experience to work across complex, multidisciplinary environments, shaping end-to-end services and helping organisations align user needs, business objectives and technology constraints.
Key Responsibilities
As a Service Designer, you will:
- Lead service design activities across Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live.
- Develop service maps, user journeys, service blueprints and end-to-end service models.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, product, technology and policy.
- Provide professional advice on service design approaches, risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate service design activities to meet agreed time, quality and business expectations.
- Facilitate workshops, co-design sessions and decision-making forums.
- Support the development of service design practice and mentor junior team members.
- Use evidence, research and insight to help shape decisions and prioritisation.
Essential Skills & Experience
We are looking for candidates with:
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end service design across the DDaT lifecycle.
- Strong experience creating service design artefacts at multiple levels, from user journeys and blueprints through to wider service ecosystems.
- Excellent evidence-based design skills, including insight synthesis, problem framing and prioritisation.
- The ability to influence and engage stakeholders across engineering, product and policy.
- Experience coordinating service design delivery across multiple phases, teams and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex problems clearly.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary and agile delivery environments.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Exposure to operational service management, including ITIL, SLAs and support models.
- Experience within defence, aerospace, government or other highly regulated environments.
- Understanding of adjacent disciplines such as User Research, Business Analysis, Product Management and Interaction Design.
- Experience working within Agile or SAFe delivery environments.
- Professional training or accreditation in Service Design or Human-Centred Design.
- Experience contributing to communities of practice or developing internal service design capability.
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, candidates will be required to hold a high level of UK Security Clearance
