SAM Analyst/Software Asset Management - Contract - 5 Weeks

AgileSource are urgently looking for a SAM Analyst for a 5 week (25 Day) Contract. Overview

An experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) professional is required for a short, time-boxed engagement to support an AI-assisted review of a large software and SaaS contract estate.

The role will focus on analysing approximately 400 software and SaaS contracts to extract, interpret and normalise licence entitlements. AI tooling will be used to accelerate document review, with the consultant providing expert judgement to resolve ambiguity, prioritise higher-risk vendors, and ensure outputs are consistent, defensible, and suitable for governance within ServiceNow SAM.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead an AI-assisted review of a large portfolio of software and SaaS contracts to extract licence entitlements.

• Translate contractual licence rights, limitations and obligations into a structured, SAM-ready entitlement register aligned to ServiceNow SAM concepts.

• Apply consistent interpretation rules to ambiguous or non-standard licensing clauses, documenting assumptions and decisions clearly.

• Act as the interface between contract/legal language and IT Asset Management (ITAM/SAM) operational requirements.

• Define entitlement scope, interpretation guardrails and data capture standards.

• Oversee AI-driven analysis, focusing human effort on low-confidence outputs and high-risk vendors.

• Normalise entitlement data into a consistent, audit-defensible dataset suitable for upload into SAM tooling.

• Produce vendor-level entitlement summaries and exception logs to support compliance activity, audits and renewals.

• Support handover to a ServiceNow managed service or operational team for entitlement loading and validation.

Required Experience

• Demonstrable experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), or software licensing analysis.

• Strong hands-on experience interpreting software and SaaS contracts, including licence metrics, usage rights and contractual constraints.

• Familiarity with Tier-1 and mid-market software vendor licensing models (eg user-based, device-based, core-based, subscription and consumption models).

• Practical understanding of SAM tooling concepts such as entitlements, licence metrics and reconciliation (tool administration experience not required).

Key Skills & Capabilities

• Ability to interpret complex and ambiguous contractual language and convert it into structured entitlement data.

• Strong analytical and data-normalisation skills, with confidence working in Excel or CSV-based entitlement registers.

• Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate document analysis while applying appropriate human judgement and quality control.

• Clear, structured documentation skills to record assumptions, exceptions and entitlement interpretations.
