Graduate Forward-Deployed Engineer

The Role: Graduate Forward-Deployed AI Engineer

As a Graduate Forward-Deployed AI Engineer at AiCore, you’ll work directly with organisations to help employees redesign real work using AI.

You’ll sit at the intersection of AI, workflows, technology and people: understanding business problems, identifying where AI can create value, building practical AI-enabled workflows, and helping people become genuinely capable with AI.

This is a role for someone who wants to become exceptionally good, exceptionally quickly, and wants real responsibility early in their career.

Graduate Programme Vision

We want to build some of the best Forward-Deployed AI Engineers in the market.

Your first 12 months are designed to accelerate your development. You’ll start by going through the AiCore Forward-Deployed AI Engineering Academy, developing deep capability across AI engineering, leading AI platforms, workflow design, agents, experimentation, evaluation, governance and client delivery.

You’ll then apply this with real organisations, initially alongside experienced people and progressively taking ownership of increasingly difficult problems.

The aim is simple: you should be dramatically more capable at the end of your first year than when you joined.

Who This Is For

You’ll likely thrive here if you:

  • Believe AI is going to fundamentally reshape knowledge work and want to be at the forefront of that shift.
  • Are intensely curious and already experimenting with AI yourself.
  • Love building things, solving difficult problems and understanding how systems work.
  • Want to become excellent across both technology and business.
  • Communicate well and enjoy working directly with people.
  • Want responsibility early rather than spending years on the edge of projects.
  • Love high-performance environments, direct feedback and real accountability.
  • Have high standards for yourself and want to become exceptional at what you do.

What We Offer

  • Forward-Deployed AI Engineering Academy
  • Intensive development across AI engineering, workflows, automations, agents and enterprise AI
  • Deep exposure to platforms including OpenAI, Anthropic and Microsoft
  • 1-1 coaching and technical development
  • Real client experience early in your career
  • Professional development across business strategy, consulting and communication
  • Performance-based career growth, the best progress quickly
  • Increasing ownership as your capability develops

What We Expect From You

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with employees and client teams to understand how their work actually gets done.
  • Break ambiguous business problems into structured workflows and engineering problems.
  • Identify where AI can remove, simplify, assist or automate work.
  • Help design and build practical AI-enabled workflows, automations and agents.
  • Prototype, experiment and evaluate whether solutions actually work.
  • Explain technical AI concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Help users develop the capability to operate and improve solutions themselves.
  • Apply strong judgement around governance, security, limitations and human oversight.
  • Measure improvements across time, quality, capacity, experience and risk.
  • Continuously test new models, tools and techniques and bring what works into client delivery.

Results

  • Employees can perform AI-enabled work they could not perform before.
  • Users leave with redesigned workflows they actually understand and use.
  • AI solutions are tested against clear success criteria rather than judged on impressive demos.
  • Clients understand what has been built, where its limitations are and how outputs should be verified.
  • Business improvement is measurable.
  • You progressively require less support and take ownership of increasingly complex problems.

Requirements

We’re hiring for potential, not years of experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Genuine interest in AI and evidence that you actively experiment with it.
  • Evidence that you like to build, through university, projects, internships, hackathons, startups or your own work.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Confidence working with different types of people.
  • High standards, high ownership and high integrity.
  • Coachable, direct and comfortable receiving candid feedback.
  • Intellectual honesty — particularly when something you built doesn’t work.

You do not need to already be a finished AI engineer. Developing you into one is the point of the programme.

Positive Signals

None of these are requirements. They are examples of signals that tend to get our attention:

  • You do things beyond what is expected of you, contributing to open source, building and publishing projects, attending conferences, competing in hackathons or teaching yourself difficult things.
  • You have competed at a high level in something, for example elite sport, Olympiads, international music or dance competitions, debating, chess or another demanding discipline.
  • You have a record of exceptional academic achievement, scholarships, awards, Dean’s List, top-of-cohort or top-percentile performance.
  • You achieved an A or A* in A-level Further Mathematics, or equivalent evidence of exceptional quantitative ability.
  • You have built something impressive without being told to build it.
  • You have evidence of becoming genuinely excellent at something whether or not it has anything to do with AI.

Location

  • Remote-first

Benefits

  • Become Exceptional in Your First 12 Months: Your first year is deliberately designed to be intense. You’ll go through our Forward-Deployed AI Engineering Academy, receive ongoing coaching, work on real problems and progressively take ownership. The goal is for your rate of development to be unusually high.
  • AI Sector Specialism: Build your career at the centre of one of the biggest shifts in knowledge work. You’ll develop practical expertise in how organisations actually adopt and create value from AI.
  • Real Responsibility Early: You won’t spend your graduate years sitting on the edge of projects. As soon as you demonstrate the capability, you’ll work directly with clients and take ownership of real problems.
  • Technical + Business Development: Become technically excellent while also learning how businesses work. You’ll develop engineering judgement alongside workflow thinking, consulting, communication and commercial understanding.
  • Performance-Based Career Growth: Progression follows capability, not tenure. The better you become, the more complex the problems you’ll be trusted to own.

The goal isn’t simply to give you a graduate job.

It’s to make you an outstanding Forward-Deployed AI Engineer.
