Director, Presales Solutions Architecture – Data Centers 🚀
Location: London (Hybrid/Field – 50% Travel)
Reporting to: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
Leadership: Direct Management of the Pre-Sales & Solutions Engineering Team
2026 Target: Driving a critical 28MW sales objective
Package: £145k – £170k Base (Flexible) + 25% Bonus + Commission
The Opportunity
We are partnering with one of Europe’s fastest-growing data center operators. Established in 2021 as a high-profile joint venture, our client is disrupting the industry by providing seamless, localized, and ultra-low latency digital infrastructure across the continent.
As the Director, Presales Solutions Architecture, you will not only be a technical authority but a leader of people, responsible for scaling the technical sales function to meet massive hyperscale demand.
Key Accountabilities
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Direct Reports: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Solutions Architects and Pre-Sales Engineers.
- Resource Allocation: Manage team assignments across the 28MW pipeline, ensuring technical excellence in every bid.
- Upskilling: Drive the team’s expertise in High-Density (HD) cooling and AI-ready architectures to stay ahead of hyperscale requirements.
2. High-Capacity Solution Strategy
- Act as the lead technical architect for Large-Scale Deployments (5MW+).
- Proven expertise in structuring deals for fractional and full data hall capacity, specifically managing the technical complexities of 1/4 DC, 1/2 DC, and full-build take-up scenarios.
- Direct the translation of hyperscale needs into scalable power, cooling, and space models.
3. Board-Level Commercial Influence
- Partner with the CCO to shape long-term commercial strategy and technical product roadmaps.
- Present complex multi-megawatt solutions to C-Suite and Board-level stakeholders with authority and commercial impact.
4. Bid & Proposal Oversight
- Oversight of all RFP/RFI responses, ensuring technical narratives for SAQs and CDEs are of the highest hyperscale standard.
- Identify value-engineering opportunities to maximize margins on large-block capacity deals.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
- Leadership Background: 10+ years in DC engineering/pre-sales, with 3+ years in a leadership role managing multiple direct reports in a high-growth environment.
- Large-Scale Track Record: Demonstrable experience delivering 5MW+ deployments. You must understand the specific technical/commercial challenges of 1/4 and 1/2 DC capacity blocks and above.
- Engineering Foundation: Engineering Degree (Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent mission-critical background.
- Hyperscale Expertise: Deep knowledge of Tier III/IV infrastructure, including:
- Power: High-voltage distribution, UPS redundancy, and power-phasing for large blocks.
- Cooling: Mastery of DX/Chilled Water, with a specific focus on Liquid Cooling (Direct-to-Chip/Immersion) for AI workloads.
- Connectivity: Hyperscale fiber architectures and cloud on-ramps.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, and CRM/Pipeline management tools.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional "storytelling" ability—turning complex data into a compelling commercial vision. You must be resilient, commercially aggressive, and a natural mentor.
