TECHNICAL AUTHOR

Location: Christchurch, Dorset

Contract: 6 months - Inside IR35

Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

Overview:

We are seeking experienced Technical Authors to join a small technical documentation team supporting a wide-area military communications system. The role involves creating, updating, and managing technical documentation to support system development, operation, and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and assess source logistic information from equipment suppliers.
  • Perform Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) on electronic computing and communication systems.
  • Author data modules including operating procedures and training material.
  • Liaise with training teams for content support.
  • Maintain Data Module Requirements List (DMRL).
  • Populate and manage Common Source Database (CSDB).
  • Proofread and review data modules using CSDB workflow.
  • Produce Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs) using trilogi software.
  • Support other ILS and LSA tasks as required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of S1000D 4.1 and Def Stan 00-601.
  • Experience in data module authoring and XML technical authoring.
  • Familiarity with EAGLE LSAR, EAGLE Publishing System, and trilogi build.
  • Understanding of CSDB configuration management processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with technical drawings.
