Algorithm Engineer

Scope

We are seeking a highly skilled Algorithm Engineer with strong proficiency in C++ and a thorough understanding of mathematics and signal processing to develop and integrate complex models into high-quality, mission-critical software solutions. The role is ideally suited to an engineer experienced in model-driven engineering, capable of integrating both autogenerated and hand-written code, and accurately translating theoretical or mathematical models into efficient, reliable production software.

Role

You will work closely with architects, systems engineers, and project teams to deliver robust software solutions across the full lifecycle, with a strong focus on design integrity, performance, safety, and quality within a secure defence environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software using C++, with supporting development in Java and Python.
  • Implement complex mathematical and signal-processing algorithms in efficient, maintainable code.
  • Apply model-driven development, integrating autogenerated and hand-written software components.
  • Use UML modelling tools (preferably IBM Rhapsody) to communicate and refine software designs.
  • Develop, deploy, and debug applications on Linux-based targets and Windows platforms.
  • Integrate applications into distributed and containerised environments (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
  • Apply high-integrity coding standards, including unit testing, static analysis, and clean-code principles.
  • Perform Software FMEA to identify, evaluate, and mitigate software failure modes.

Required Experience

  • Previous Algorithm experience is required.
  • Strong background in C++ development with mathematical or signal-processing content.
  • Demonstrated experience in model-driven engineering with mixed autogenerated and handwritten code.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in C++, with working knowledge of Java and Python.
  • Knowledge of software architectures and large-scale distributed systems design.
  • Strong computational mathematics and signal-processing capability.
  • Linux and Windows software deployment and debugging.
  • GPU programming awareness (CUDA, HIP, OpenCL).

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
