About the Role

Akkodis is recruiting an Test Engineer to join our in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating Manual Test Procedures (MTPs) from a set of provided CONOPS requirements, System Model diagrams, and Software deliverables, as well as building the software and developing automated scripts to support test data preparation and execution. This role primarily focuses on test procedure development, build generation, and test data preparation rather than full test automation or coding of test frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret CONOPS, system architecture, and software documentation to derive clear, traceable test cases.
• Generate Manual Test Procedures (MTPs) to verify system and software behaviour against requirements.
• Ensure test coverage aligns with system functionality and operational scenarios.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and procedures.
• Generate software builds from the provided source or configuration management environment in preparation for test execution.
• Define and develop automated scripts to pre-populate test environments with the necessary data sets.
• Collaborate with system and software engineers to clarify test conditions, expected results, and data requirements.
• Support review and approval processes for test documentation within Airbus standards.

Qualifications

• Experience developing manual test procedures or test cases from system requirements or models.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering concepts and requirements traceability.
• Ability to interpret system diagrams, interface definitions, and operational concepts (CONOPS).
• Experience generating software builds and working with build environments or CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or similar) to automate test data population.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation quality.
• Comfortable working within a structured, regulated engineering environment (e.g., aerospace, defence, or similar).

Required Skills

• Familiarity with MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) or model-based design tools (Enterprise Architect).
• Knowledge of aerospace or defence systems.
• Experience working under DO-178C style processes (beneficial but not essential).
• Familiarity with configuration management and build tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Bitbucket, or equivalent).

Deliverables / Focus Areas

Production of a defined set of Manual Test Procedures (MTPs) based on supplied inputs. Generation of software builds and configuration updates required for test execution. Development of automated data-prepopulation scripts to streamline test setup. Maintenance of traceability from requirements through to test steps. Contribution to test readiness reviews and documentation approvals.
