SSH Engineer
In this role you are responsible for making sure that SSH discovery tooling is maintained, i.e. reporting of the tooling, upgrade of the tooling, issues are reported to the vendor. You will closely work with the stakeholders to understand requirements and request for new features during the lifetime of the tooling
You will work with a small team of engineering’s that you will guide.
Key duties include:
- Managing the SSH function within the Engineering team to lead on SSH Key discovery and support remediation of vulnerabilities.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance to a small team
- Design and develop controls to mitigate against risks associated with SSH Keys
- Technical Lead for RFP’s and queries related to SSH Key management
- Provide support with developing automated tools to discover keys across the estate
- Provide KCI’s and MI to key stakeholders
Key Skills Required
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Good understanding of Unix systems– User access setup, SSH config, bash scripting
- Good technical knowledge of SSH Keys, algorithms, configs, SSH certs
- Experience of using Automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, Splunk, Postman.
- Understanding of software release management & deployment tools – GitHub, Jenkins etc
- Venafi TPP knowledge & experience – Venafi for SSH keys discovery
- Knowledge & experience of Industry Best Practices and tools used for SSH Key discovery and remediation
- Experience and understanding of Databases – Microsoft SQL
- Identity Access Management Experience – RBAC, Privileged Access Management
- NIST Framework knowledge - (NOT mandatory but desirable)
- Experience working with Service Management tools and processes – Service Now, RFC’s etc
- Good experience of Microsoft Office – Advanced Excel skills
- Good understanding of IT Infrastructure technical platforms / technologies – VMware, Win and Linux infra, Databases, Firewalls, Networks etc
- Good team management & interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
- Operational effectiveness - delivers solutions that align to approved design patterns and security, risk and regulatory standards
- A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
- Experience gained working in large organisations preferably in the Financial Sector.
