Consulting Manager -Data

Consulting Manager

Do you want to work at an award-winning management consultancy that help their clients and partners to grow and thrive?

Do you want to work with fun, ambitious and friendly people?

Would you like to accelerate your career in a vibrant organisation?

If so, Alchemmy are looking for talented people like you!

We are building a data advisory practice and are seeking an experienced consultant who can run client engagements independently, support business development conversations, and help develop the team around them. As a data consultant, you will play an important role in supporting our clients navigate the complexities of leveraging data effectively to drive strategic business outcomes. This is a delivery-focused role - you will be expected to lead projects from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Lead data maturity assessments and transformation engagements for clients across sectors.
  • Support large-scale data transformations ranging from the business case development and strategy assessments to managing implementation of data products and solutions.
  • Help clients embed data into how they actually work, translating strategy into changed behaviours, clearer ownership, and ways of working that stick beyond the engagement.
  • Support senior relationship leads in business development conversations.
  • Manage less experienced consultants on engagements, developing their skills and outputs.
  • Contribute to building practice methodology, tools, and ways of working.
  • Plan and facilitate client workshops, from discovery sessions through to strategic prioritisation.
  • Produce high-quality client deliverables including diagnostics, strategies, operating models and roadmap.
  • Translate complex data situations into clear narratives for ExCo and Director-level audiences

Experience

  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: data strategy, data maturity, or data transformation
  • Track record of successfully running your own projects or workstreams with limited senior oversight
  • Experience advising at Director level and holding your own under challenge
  • Exposure to data governance, operating model, literacy and business adoption programmes.
  • Understanding of what it takes to make data change land inside an organisation, adoption, culture, and capability building, not just strategy documents.

Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of the data landscape - governance, legal, architecture concepts, MDM, technology and BI tooling.
  • Ability to assess where an organisation sits on a data maturity curve and build a credible roadmap from it
  • Understanding of the organisational and change dimensions of data transformation, not just the technical ones

About you

  • Passion for working with data, with a natural curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring, analysing, and deriving practical insights.
  • Naturally good with clients - builds trust without needing a formal relationship mandate
  • Structured thinker who can make sense of ambiguous briefs and challenging client situations
  • Invested in developing others - gets genuine satisfaction from supporting the growth of less experienced colleagues
  • Comfortable in a smaller, less structured environment where you help define ways of working rather than inherit them

The Environment

  • Advisory and transformation-focused - no technical delivery
  • Small, growing practice with an established lead you will work alongside
  • Real delivery ownership from the outset
  • Opportunity to shape methodology and build something, not just execute it
  • Variety of clients and sectors, no two engagements the same
  • A place where your contribution is visible and your development is taken seriously
