National IT Technician - Stores

The role of the National IT Technician is to focus on IT operational stability and performance whilst adhering to IT industry best practices whilst providing the best possible customer service.   

As a Technician in NIT Stores, you will manage the day-to-day delivery of multiple IT services, and oversee the assigned incidents, requests, problems and deployments efficiently and accurately, and achieve compliance with all internal and external guidelines and regulations, particularly the Aldi IT governance whilst contributing to a cooperative working environment. The role is varied working in a dynamic team to deliver solutions to Store Operations, including working with Store software and hardware solutions.

Your New Role

The duties of the National IT Technician are as follows:

  • Assisting the operational business with program testing for new versions of existing programs
  • Liaising with external service providers, internal and external auditors and external bodies
  • Provide first level IT support to the operational business
  • Maintaining an appropriate incident log to administer user requirements, open issues and escalate issues
  • Understand appropriate escalation points within National IT, International IT or external contractors
  • Escalates unresolved incidents within National IT, International IT or appropriate external contractors as necessary
  • Monitoring the status of escalated issues and seeking status updates where necessary
  • Keeping the incident creator informed of progress or possible reasons for delay while escalating known or reoccurring issues to management 
  • Recommending workarounds or additional training to users to support efficiency 
  • Contributing content to the knowledge base to assist with problem management of incidents
  • Developing applications and reports including the creation of documentation as required
  • Maintaining assets, warranty, repair, license and any other IT controls as required
  • Ensures that all documentation is archived properly and arranges its disposal at the end of the archive period
  • Monitors compliance of SLA’s and deadlines 

About You

  • Experience within an IT role ideally within a Service Desk environment 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues in rudimentary terms
  • Vast experience of IT troubleshooting 
  • Working knowledge with IT hardware
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise and execute tasks under pressure 
  • Inquisitive and driven to perform to the best of their abilities
  • Previous technical exposure to Electronic Retail Point of Sale systems would be advantageous 

Please note, due to the nature of the role, you may be required to complete out of hours and weekend working and will require a full UK driving licence. What You’ll get in Return
