We believe the quality of service in the legal profession is woefully inadequate. It delivers bad value for money, frustrates the people it exists to serve, and lacks basic accountability.
The societal impact of making legal services accessible, understandable, and affordable to every person will be enormous. We aim to be the business that makes this happen.
The Founder
Alecto was founded in autumn 2025 by Will Rice. Will previously founded Gen H, an FCA-regulated fintech that has become one of the UK’s leading mortgage lenders for first-time buyers. At Gen H, Will raised £50 million in equity from leading venture investors and over £5 billion in asset financing.
Prior to Gen H, Will lived in Moscow and ran a hedge fund. He has a starred first-class degree from Cambridge University, where he studied Russian and Arabic.

How you’ll contribute
We're looking for Staff or Senior Product Engineers to join our engineering team. We're a small team of generalists with deep experience in startups and a passion for craft. We move fast, ship often, and hold ourselves to a high bar.From day one, you’ll help shape the product’s direction and ship features to production within your first week. Requirements will be fuzzy - you’ll talk to users, form hypotheses, and iterate quickly to define what to build.
You may be a good fit if you
- Have worked at early-stage startups and driven product direction
- Think in terms of user problems, not just technical solutions
- Have scaled TypeScript projects
- Enjoy refining and customizing your AI workflow into the early hours
- Building AI agents or LLM-powered systems that go beyond simple prompting.
