Role Overview

The Application Test Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all testing activities for applications migrating to the new low-latency real-time platform.

This role provides the assurance that every application rehosted or refactored under the programme is functionally sound, operationally stable, and performance-ready for production cutover.

The position demands a blend of technical depth, delivery discipline, and stakeholder management, working across multiple application domains, engineering teams, and programme workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Strategy & Governance

  • Align test execution schedules with programme migration waves and delivery milestones.
  • Standardise test documentation, templates, and defect-management processes across all workstreams.

2. Test Planning & Execution

  • Coordinate end-to-end application testing, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Ensure each migration wave meets defined readiness criteria before production deployment.
  • Lead System Integration Testing (SIT) and support UAT execution with business and application owners.
  • Validate application performance through latency benchmarking and throughput testing.
  • Manage the full defect lifecycle through Jira/Confluence or equivalent tools.

3. Quality Assurance & Risk Control

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to test environment readiness, data integrity, and configuration drift.
  • Monitor defect trends and provide data-driven insights for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to Go/No-Go decisions by providing objective readiness assessments and reports.
  • Implement regression and smoke-test automation to support repeated migration cycles.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

  • Act as the central point of contact for testing across architecture, engineering, and delivery.
  • Produce weekly test health dashboards and status reports for programme leadership.
  • Present findings and recommendations in governance forums, ensuring transparency of quality metrics.
  • Build strong relationships with application owners, release managers, and platform engineering leads.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Implement test automation and reporting integration within Jira/Confluence.
  • Conduct test retrospectives and drive process optimisation across subsequent migration waves.
  • Coach and mentor test analysts and leads, embedding best practice within the delivery model.

Objectives

  • Establish a unified, repeatable test governance framework across all programme streams.
  • Validate that each application migration achieves functional, technical, and operational readiness.
  • Align test execution with programme governance for full visibility of quality metrics.
  • Reduce risk of production failures by identifying and mitigating defects and performance bottlenecks early.
  • Introduce automation and continuous improvement to create a sustainable testing discipline.

Expected Outcomes

  • Fully operational testing framework with standardised processes and metrics.
  • 100% coverage of in-scope applications with traceable test artefacts.
  • Quantitative Go/No-Go readiness data for all migration waves.
  • Latency and performance baselines established and validated.
  • Automated dashboards and regression packs implemented.
  • Increased stakeholder confidence through transparent reporting.
