• Hybrid role (once a week on-site)
• Will be travelling between sites in London & Reading
• Paying between £580 - £620 per day
• Inside IR35

Job Description

The Lead Cloud Architect is the technical authority and design owner for cloud migration and modernisation programme. They are accountable for defining the end-to-end cloud strategy, shaping the Landing Zone architecture, and overseeing all technical designs and implementation across AWS infrastructure, security, identity, networking, migration planning, and EUC (Amazon WorkSpaces / Citrix modernisation).

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the overall technical design authority, leading architectural governance, discovery, and strategy definition.
• Develop the Target Architecture, Migration Roadmap, and a secure multi-account AWS Landing Zone aligned to public-sector and NCSC/CIS standards.
• Lead EUC modernisation across Amazon WorkSpaces/Citrix, ensuring strong identity, security, and compliance controls.
• Oversee migration planning and execution, including runbooks, pilot selection, AWS MGN/CloudEndure activity, and technical escalation.
• Drive operational readiness, hypercare, dashboards/alerting, and transition to BAU with clear governance and FinOps optimisation.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years cloud architecture; 5+ years AWS in regulated sectors.
• Deep knowledge of: AWS Organisations, Control Tower, IAM, VPC, WorkSpaces, AppStream, FSLogix, AWS MGN, Terraform/CloudFormation, KMS, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, Entra ID.
• Strong stakeholder communication.
• Experience defining governance, stage-gate assurance.
