Contract QA Consultant

The Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Senior QA Consultant (Freelance) to work on contract for around 6 months, working 1 day per week. Based in North Somerset, Bristol. This role is to help mature their QA processes and capability. This hands-on advisory and coaching role works closely with the internal QA tester and development team, providing guidance, feedback, and best-practice recommendations to build confidence, structure, and ownership over QA activities.

Responsibilities will include

• Review existing QA processes, tooling, and workflows across web applications.

• Provide guidance on building and maintaining effective QA strategies and test plans.

• Mentor and coach the internal QA tester, helping them grow into a QA Lead-level role.

• Advise on appropriate use of manual vs automated testing.

• Review test cases, documentation, and defect management practices, offering constructive feedback.

• Support the team in understanding testing effort and resourcing needs.

• Promote pragmatic, high-value QA practices suitable for a small development team.

The Person:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned QA professional with strong consultancy experience and a passion for mentoring and coaching.

• Significant SaaS QA experience and proven ability to build QA teams.
• Consultancy skills with a track record of delivering advisory services.
• Previous QA leadership as a QA Lead, QA Manager or Head of QA.
• Proficiency with automated testing tools such as Cypress or Playwright.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities to coach internal testers.

The Pay:

£350-400 day per day (one day per week for a 6 month contract)
