Scrum Master (Lending)

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Scrum Master for a 6 Month contract based Remotely (Local office attendance twice a month).

Purpose of the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Scrum Master to provide delivery across two Agile teams within our Origination Journey and Lending Transformation workstreams. This role plays a key part in driving the Expand My Business outcomes, which underpin our broader Lending Transformation commitments through to 2026.

You will foster a high-performing, collaborative environment that enables teams to deliver business value efficiently and sustainably. This position provides cover for an existing Scrum Master who is currently on secondment to the Release Train Manager role.

As a Scrum Master you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives across two dedicated Scrum teams.
  • Coach teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders in Agile principles and practices, promoting continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
  • Partner with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to prioritise, plan, and deliver business outcomes aligned to the Origination Journey and Lending Transformation objectives.
  • Identify and remove impediments, manage dependencies, and drive timely decision-making to meet sprint and program-level commitments.
  • Collaborate closely with the Release Train Manager and other Scrum Masters to maintain alignment across the Lending Transformation programme and ensure cohesive delivery of the Expand My Business roadmap.
  • Track and communicate progress, risks, and delivery metrics using agreed Agile tools and reporting frameworks.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and empowerment across teams.
  • Participate in quarterly planning (PI/PR sessions) and contribute to the wider delivery community of practice.

What we require from the Candidate:

  • Previous experience in Financial Services, Banking, or Lending Transformation programmes.
  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master supporting multiple Agile teams in large-scale transformation or technology delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams and competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent facilitation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.

Desirable:

  • Relevant Agile certifications (eg, CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master).
