A central government department is seeking a Lead Developer to join a dynamic digital team working on AI enabled services and low code platforms. This role blends hands-on technical delivery with architectural decision-making and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

You'll be responsible for:

• Leading development across small teams and setting technical direction
• Making architectural decisions and guiding best practices
• Collaborating with product owners and user researchers
• Delivering solutions using Python, LangChain, and low-code platforms like Power Platform
• Working with technologies such as SharePoint, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex, and Bedrock
• Supporting knowledge transfer and mentoring within a wider team of 40-50

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong experience in low-code/no-code development (Power Platform, SharePoint)
• Hands-on delivery using Python and AI frameworks (eg LangChain)
• Proven ability to lead teams and make architectural decisions
• Comfortable working in agile environments and collaborating across disciplines
• Degree in Computer Science (preferred but not essential)
• Experience with Microsoft technologies (ideal but not essential)
• Government experience beneficial but not required

This is a high impact role with visibility across departments. Interviews will be scheduled promptly, and short notice periods can be accommodated. The role is hybrid, with flexibility to work from London, Bristol, or Manchester.
