A major government-backed technology programme is seeking an experienced Interoperability & Cross-Domain Architect to help shape how information is securely exchanged across highly classified and distributed technology environments. This is a unique opportunity to join a greenfield programme responsible for delivering next-generation secure collaboration capabilities. You will play a critical role in defining how information moves between different security domains, partner organisations and technology platforms whilst maintaining the highest levels of security, governance and compliance. Working within a multidisciplinary architecture team, you will help define interoperability strategy, cross-domain architecture patterns, IMPEX capabilities and secure information-sharing approaches across complex stakeholder landscapes. This role requires an individual who combines strong architectural thinking with excellent relationship-building skills, capable of engaging suppliers, government stakeholders and security specialists to drive interoperability outcomes across a highly secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop interoperability strategies, principles and architectural roadmaps.
- Define standards and patterns for secure information sharing across internal and external technology ecosystems.
- Design architectural approaches for secure cross-domain information exchange.
- Assess technologies that support secure collaboration whilst protecting sensitive information.
- Define approaches for Import/Export (IMPEX) capabilities and controlled information exchange.
- Establish metadata, labelling and information provenance standards.
- Collaborate with security architects to ensure compliance with accreditation and security requirements.
- Support collaborative initiatives involving government, industry and international partners.
- Evaluate emerging interoperability technologies and vendor solutions.
- Provide architectural assurance and influence future interoperability standards.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience designing interoperability architectures within complex environments.
- Strong understanding of secure information exchange and integration patterns.
- Knowledge of API integration, messaging and event-driven architectures.
- Experience working within Defence, National Security, Government or similarly regulated sectors.
- Understanding of cross-domain technologies, high-assurance guards and secure information transfer.
- Knowledge of information movement across multiple classification levels.
- Experience defining architecture standards and governance.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong presentation, communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to balance security, usability and interoperability requirements.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with IMPEX capabilities and controlled information exchange.
- Knowledge of cross-domain vendors and solutions.
- Experience supporting multinational, coalition or partner collaboration environments.
- Understanding of interoperability standards used within Defence or National Security communities.
- Experience working with Five Eyes, NATO or similar multinational environments.
- Background in Defence, Law Enforcement, Security or Intelligence-related programmes.
- TOGAF or equivalent Architecture certification.
- Experience presenting to Design Authorities and senior stakeholders.
