Chief Architect
Allen Lane is proud to be supporting the London Borough of Newham in their search to appoint a Chief Architect on a permanent basis. This is a truly unique opportunity to play a key role in the evolution of Newham's newly created Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) service. You'll be the most senior architectural authority for the entire council. You will help shape how a modern council uses digital, data and technology from an architecture perspective, to improve the lives of residents and drive cultural change across the organisation to embed digital ways of working.
The role
As the Chief Architect you will:
- Define, govern and optimise core business, information and technology architecture that will impact every department in the council
- Drive the council's digital transformation and innovation strategies, policies and investments
- Provide governance, guardrails and control across the council and third party vendors
- Lead and prioritise the development of the enterprise architecture discipline, ensuring it is aligned with overall strategies and requirements
- Shape the business models through strategic relationships whilst ensuring alignment with architectural roadmaps
- Direct the creation and review of enterprise capability
- Be an advocate for the value of enterprise architecture, owning the function and engaging with stakeholders at all levels to integrate digital solutions into operations
Key skills required
As a Chief Architect you will have:
- Expert knowledge of enterprise architecture as a discipline including relevant technologies, tools, platforms and best practices
- Varied applied knowledge of multiple methodologies including but not limited to TOGAF, Agile, Dev/ Ops, ITIL
- The ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical outcomes including people and tools, turning business outcomes into solution design
- The skills to apply a “systems thinking” approach to architecting in a business environment
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to bring people together with opposing views to agree on practical solutions
- Working knowledge of APIs and microservices architecture including integration
- Experience in planning and designing business transformation programmes
What you get in return
A salary between £75,000 - £95,000 plus benefits which include the local government pension scheme, 31 days annual leave and much more!
