Solutions Architect

Allen Lane are delighted to be partnering with the London Borough of Newham to find an outstanding Solution Architect to join their forward-thinking Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to support Newhams digital transformation efforts. The successful Solution Architect will help shape how technology enables better services and outcomes for residents. Please note this is a hybrid role, with up to 2 days per week required on site.

As the Solution Architect, you will:

• Lead the design and delivery of innovative, value-driven technology solutions that meet both strategic objectives and user needs.
• Translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable technical designs that underpin service improvement and digital innovation.
• Provide expert architectural guidance to project and product teams, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with Newhams digital strategy.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, helping them make informed decisions through clear, non-technical communication and evidence-based advice.
• Work collaboratively across the organisation and with external partners, including the London Office of Technology & Innovation (LOTI), to ensure alignment with sector best practice.
• Monitor emerging technologies, advising where innovation can drive efficiency, sustainability, and improved resident outcomes.

As the Solution Architect, you will have:

• Proven experience of leading solution design and architecture within a complex, multi-system environment.
• A broad understanding of modern technologies, platforms, and design principles, alongside experience working in Agile and DevOps cultures.
• Experience in modernising legacy applications & systems
• The ability to think strategically and balance innovation, risk, and value to deliver sustainable digital transformation.
• Strong influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge, negotiate, and gain buy-in from senior leaders and partners.
• A collaborative approach, with a commitment to open standards, shared learning, and continuous improvement.
