Workforce Planning Lead

My public sector client operates one of the UK’s most advanced secure technology services, supporting thousands of users worldwide with innovative collaboration tools and modern digital capabilities. Their mission is to enable Government teams to work safely, effectively and collaboratively across the globe while maintaining the highest security standards. As part of their continued growth programme, they are seeking an experienced Workforce Planning Lead to support a high-profile transformation agenda. This role sits within a central People & Capability function, responsible for ensuring the organisation has the right skills, talent and structures to deliver a rapidly expanding secure IT service.

This public sector organisation is based in East Kilbride, where the Workforce Planning Lead will be able to work from home 2-3 days per week. The day rate for this important role is £550-£600 per day (inside IR35) based on experience. You will be joining a supportive, inclusive team with a modern, flexible working culture.

The key responsibilities of this 6-month FTC role include:

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring the organisation’s Workforce Planning Strategy, ensuring alignment with policy, operational and financial needs.
  • Conducting analysis of current workforce capability and define plans to support future growth and skills development.
  • Advising senior leaders on people-related matters and support the delivery of reports and documentation for internal and external governance.
  • Building strong partnerships with HR teams and cross-organisational stakeholders, influencing people policy and resolving issues promptly.
  • Leading the design and implementation of an effective recruitment, onboarding and induction programme.
  • Driving people-engagement initiatives focused on building high-performing teams and supporting staff development.
  • Leading and developing an operational team responsible for delivering workforce planning and people strategy activities.

The role will suit someone with proven track record in developing and delivering workforce planning strategies in complex or fast-moving organisations. You will have a strong background in leading people focused initiatives that improve capability, culture and organisational performance. The Workforce Planning Lead will need to have a HR background (CIPD qualified or equivalent) in supporting organisational growth, change or transformation.

This exciting opportunity will allow you to use your excellent written and verbal communication skills, where you will have the ability to break down complex information for diverse audiences. You need to be able to influence others and build trust quickly and form strong relationships across stakeholder groups. Finally, you will be confident at leading operational teams, delivering at pace whilst maintaining service quality. It would be beneficial for the Workforce Planning Lead to have knowledge of dealing with or have worked in the public sector or multi-agency working, along with experience in a technology enabled or IT service environments.
