AI Consultant HCM

Overview

A leading HR consultancy has recently launched a strategic focus on AI and its impact on HR. As part of this initiative, they are hiring a Project Manager to oversee both client-facing advisory work and internal capability development. The role is at the centre of the consultancy's expanding AI-enabled HR practice, with responsibility for managing strategic AI programmes, supporting client transformation, and leading the upskilling agenda across the firm.

This is a hands-on delivery role ideal for someone with strong consulting experience, an interest in AI technologies, and a passion for fostering real-world change in HR.

Key Responsibilities

Client-Facing Advisory & Transformation

  • Provide strategic and operational guidance to CPOs and senior HR leaders on applying AI in HR functions.
  • Lead AI-focused client engagements, helping organisations assess their AI maturity, navigate vendor landscapes, and embed AI in HR processes.
  • Support clients with practical implementation strategies, change management, and ongoing transformation programmes.
  • Translate AI concepts into actionable business outcomes for HR teams.

Internal AI Programme Leadership

  • Manage and deliver a portfolio of internal AI projects (pilots, PoCs, tooling rollouts) from discovery through evaluation.
  • Design and implement an internal AI upskilling programme, including workshops, micro-learning, and AI champions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to align AI initiatives with business goals.
  • Establish light-touch governance structures, including RAID logs, benefits tracking, and post-implementation reviews.
  • Work with the Change & Adoption team to drive engagement, communication, and adoption of AI internally.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects in a consultancy or tech-enabled environment (5+ years).
  • Strong understanding of AI's impact on HR functions (e.g., people analytics, automation, talent management).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior leaders and partners.
  • Deep consulting experience, combining strategic thinking with practical delivery skills.
  • Experience working with HR platforms such as Oracle, SAP, Workday, and familiarity with Microsoft collaboration tools.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile, entrepreneurial teams with a proactive mindset.

AI & Technical Knowledge

  • Practical understanding of key AI/ML concepts such as LLMs, predictive analytics, and responsible AI.
  • Awareness of data privacy, security, and ethical considerations in deploying AI in HR.
  • Experience with AI tools and platforms is advantageous but not essential.
  • Python or other technical skills is helpful but not required if consulting expertise is strong.

HR Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of HR contexts and challenges, especially relating to digital transformation.
  • Ability to ask pertinent questions and offer relevant guidance within HR settings.
  • No need for deep HR specialism - internal experts are available - but confidence in navigating HR-focused discussions is essential.

Why This Role?

  • Join a consultancy at the forefront of AI innovation in HR.
  • Influence both internal strategy and external client delivery.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of work and digital capability development.
  • Be part of a high-performing, collaborative, and entrepreneurial team.
