Payments Transformation Lead
We're working with one of the UK's best-known organisations, currently going through a major transformation in its approach to payments.
With hundreds of millions in income processed each year across a mix of channels - from traditional methods through to digital and emerging payment technologies - there is a clear need to improve the overall payments strategy to support ambitious income generation objectives.
As a result, they are seeking a Payments Transformation Lead to join on an initial 18-month contract, paying up to £75,000 per annum.
The Role
As the Payments Transformation Lead, you will:
- Act as the standalone subject matter expert on payment strategy
- Assess the current landscape, identifying risks and gaps, and lead the development of a new strategy
- Work closely with teams across Finance, Technology, and Product to drive the payments agenda forward
- Support the development of business cases and investment decisions
- Introduce new payment methods and improve existing capabilities
- Partner with technology teams on system improvements and upcoming platform changes
- Review supplier relationships and identify opportunities for simplification and optimisation
The Person
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a strong understanding of payments, including risk, governance, and compliance
- Bring experience of transformation and improving or modernising payment strategies
- Be comfortable working independently in a standalone role
- Be able to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions
Further Context
While initial groundwork has been done, there is currently no dedicated owner of the payments strategy.
The existing landscape includes multiple providers and systems, with clear opportunities to create a more joined-up and efficient approach.
Alongside this, a broader technology transformation is underway, which will unlock further opportunities to improve how payments are managed.
This role will play a key part in shaping the future direction, bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to this area.
