Senior Data Architect

Alvarium Talent is supporting a fast‐growing, award winning, Data and AI consultancy that helps organisations unlock the full value of their data. They specialise in modern data platforms, cloud transformation, AI readiness, real‐time reporting, data governance, and complex integration challenges.

As a Senior Data Architect, you will design scalable, secure and cloud‐native data architectures that enable clients to become truly data‐driven. You will lead architectural engagements, shape technical strategy, and translate business objectives into modern, high‐performance data solutions across the Azure ecosystem.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in client-facing environments, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and is motivated by delivering measurable impact.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design end‐to‐end data architectures across Azure, Modern Data Warehouse and Lakehouse patterns.
  • Engage directly with stakeholders from C‐suite to engineering teams to shape data strategy and solution direction.
  • Lead architectural workstreams, ensuring solutions are scalable, cost‐optimised, secure and compliant.
  • Re‐architect, modernise or build cloud‐native data platforms using Azure services and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Present architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non‐technical audiences.
  • Oversee engineering delivery cycles, ensuring high-quality standards in data modelling, pipelines, governance and performance.
  • Develop PoCs, contribute to RFI/RFP responses, and support presales by shaping technical approaches.
  • Promote best practices across data management, governance, and engineering standards.

Role Requirements

Essential

  • Several years’ experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures.
  • Strong expertise with Azure data services (ADF, Azure SQL, Synapse, Fabric).
  • Solid understanding of Modern Data Warehouse and Lakehouse architectures.
  • Advanced data modelling skills (3NF, Kimball).
  • Experience building cloud-native and on‐premises data pipelines.
  • Strong SQL, NoSQL/CosmosDB and KQL capability.
  • Background in consulting and client-facing delivery.
  • Ability to challenge, influence and articulate architectural decisions clearly.
  • Experience owning architecture from discovery through to delivery.

Desirable

  • Microsoft Fabric design and implementation experience.
  • Databricks, Python, DevOps or ML/AI exposure.
  • Knowledge of data governance and Microsoft Purview.
  • Azure infrastructure/networking understanding.
  • Relevant certifications: DP‐203, AZ‐305, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate.

Qualities We Are Looking For

  • A natural consultant who builds trusted client relationships.
  • A strategic thinker who can translate ambiguity into actionable architecture.
  • Someone who enjoys modern tooling, continuous learning and emerging technology.
  • A confident communicator capable of influencing senior stakeholders.
  • A pragmatic problem-solver who can balance ideal architecture with real-world constraints.

Why Apply

  • Join a specialist consultancy where data is the entire focus, not a side function.
  • Work on cutting-edge Azure, Fabric and Lakehouse programmes across diverse industries.
  • Shape architectural direction with genuine autonomy and influence.
  • Grow your consulting, leadership and presales capability within a high‐calibre team.
  • Be part of a fast-growing organisation where your expertise directly impacts client success.
