Role Summary
Amber Labs is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the delivery of a high-profile programme within a central government department. This role sits within a multidisciplinary agile team and will play a key part in translating business and user needs into clear, actionable requirements that support successful digital service delivery.
Working closely with Product Managers, Architects, Developers, User Researchers, Designers, and Testers, you will help shape product themes from initial discovery through to implementation. You will be responsible for gathering and analysing requirements, facilitating workshops, documenting business and technical processes, and ensuring delivery teams have the clarity needed to build effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the initial assessment of product themes alongside Product Managers, facilitating kick-off workshops and helping define delivery scope.
- Conduct analysis of current business processes and work with stakeholders to define and agree future-state processes.
- Create, maintain, and update business process maps and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with User-Centred Design teams to ensure proposed solutions meet both user needs and business objectives.
- Produce clear, concise user stories with robust and testable acceptance criteria.
- Maintain project documentation and artefacts in agreed repositories, ensuring information remains accurate and accessible.
- Identify, manage, and track actions, dependencies, risks, and issues throughout the delivery life-cycle.
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders regarding any challenges, risks, or opportunities that could impact delivery timelines or quality.
- Ensure requirements and business analysis deliverables are completed to a high standard and are ready for development teams to consume.
- Support delivery teams throughout the development life-cycle by responding to queries and providing clarification where required.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including sequence diagrams, architecture artefacts, Confluence documentation, and stakeholder-facing materials.
- Gather, define, document, and validate both technical and business requirements.
- Contribute to solution design discussions, supporting the definition of architecture approaches, data models, and backend processes.
- Define and document non-functional requirements, including security and performance considerations.
- Work closely with Architects, DevOps Engineers, Developers, Testers, Product Managers, and User-Centred Design specialists to ensure alignment across workstreams.
- Support knowledge sharing and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.
- Define and maintain architecture and technical backlogs, including security-related requirements.
- Create and refine technical user stories, spikes, and supporting artefacts.
- Facilitate workshops and requirements sessions with both internal and external stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate Pr ofile
- Proven experience working as a Business Analyst within agile digital delivery environments.
- Experience delivering projects within central government or wider public sector organisations.
- Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies, requirements gathering techniques, and process modelling.
- Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and technical documentation.
- Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams including Architecture, Development, Testing, DevOps, Product, and User-Centred Design.
- Experience facilitating workshops and driving consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of agile delivery frameworks and modern digital service delivery practices.
- Familiarity with architecture concepts, non-functional requirements, and technical analysis activities.
- Active SC Clearance clearance.
- Experience operating at SFIA Level 4 or equivalent.
