Location: Primarily remote, with adhoc visits onsite in Newcastle

Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), with a view to go permanent

We are seeking DevOps Engineers with deep core cloud expertise to join a critical government programme. This is an excellent opportunity to work on highly impactful projects while enjoying a flexible, collaborative environment.

Role Overview

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and optimising cloud-based infrastructure, cloud security and cloud provisioning principles. You will work within an Agile team, focusing on scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures that support modern digital services.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploying, implementing, and supporting AWS-based infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous integration and delivery for effective containerisation.
• Enhancement of container orchestration with Kubernetes in conjunction with CI/CD integration methods and delivery.
• Automate system deployments, configuration, and monitoring for reliability and performance
• Collaborate with developers, security engineers, and architects to deliver high-quality solutions
• For Senior Engineers: Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and contribute to solution design decisions

Skills & Experience Required

• SC Clearance preferred, however, SC Eligibility accepted (applications without clearance cannot be considered)
• Proven experience with AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, ECS/EKS)
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Version control experience (Git)
• Linux OS
