The mission of the Global Strategy, Operations, & Performance (GSOP) Team within Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) is to be essential to merchants and partners globally by delivering an easy, frictionless, value-added experience that enables them to meet their goals and support merchants globally and transform what it means to be an AMEX Merchant. GSOP consists of a diverse set of teams that support the GMNS business.

The GMNS Analytics team within GSOP is responsible for partnering with global markets to drive profitable growth, accelerating acceptance, and amplifying the value of Amex acceptance to Merchants, bank partners and Card Members at scale. We offer powerful data and actionable insights to attract new businesses to engage with Amex, help existing businesses improve performance and capitalize on new opportunities.

The GMNS Analytics team is seeking a Manager to lead the Strategic Analytics team. The Manager will play a critical role in shaping the bespoke analytics and insights agenda that drives strategic decision-making across the GMNS business.

This role will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the merchant side of the business to understand, address, design, and deliver bespoke analytical frameworks and performance insights that will strengthen our understanding of merchant growth and portfolio performance. The role requires a balance of strategic problem-solving, hands-on analytics expertise, and stakeholder engagement, with the opportunity to partner closely across global markets, business teams, and enterprise analytics functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of bespoke analytics projects that drive measurable business impact across global merchant portfolios.

  • Develop and enhance analytical models and dashboards to monitor portfolio performance and uncover growth opportunities.

  • Shape and evolve the team's analytics strategy, aligning initiatives with GMNS business priorities and emerging external trends.

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven insights that inform strategic and operational decisions.

  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior business leaders.

  • Partner with extended team to drive automation of key analytics data creation processes to improve speed to market and reduce operational risk and leverage emerging technologies – including GenAI and machine learning to transform and scale insight generation capabilities.

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing, diverse, and engaged analytics team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in data or analytics functions with a strong business acumen.

  • Intellectual curiosity, agility, and quick learning skills to bring structure to shifting priorities, managing multiple demands, and ambiguity.

  • The ability to drive insights from data, manage multiple projects, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, able to challenge the status quo while leading and inspiring a team.

  • Excellent business writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and influence at all levels.

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Bigquery, SQL, R, Python, Lumi, PySpark and Tableau.

  • Experience in the merchant business preferred.

  • Experience in Machine Learning/ Cloud / Gen AI is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering/Data Science with relevant experience.

  • Post Graduation in Statistics/Mathematics/ Economics/Engineering/Management is a plus.
