IT Hardware Technician
Amour Recruitment are pleased to be recruiting for IT Hardware Technicians to join our long-established client based in Portsmouth
Working across customer sites, data centres, build labs, and office environments, you will play a key role in the deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of critical IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy, maintain, relocate, and decommission IT infrastructure including servers, storage, network equipment, desktop hardware, racks, and associated peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware faults, perform testing, quality assurance activities, and support system validation processes.
- Design and implement rack layouts, structured cabling solutions, patching schedules, and asset labelling in line with industry best practice.
- Maintain accurate documentation, asset records, inventory information, and support compliance requirements.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Produce and maintain Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and promote a safety-first culture.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and support day-to-day operational activities.
- Assist with logistics activities including equipment handling, loading/unloading, and deployment preparation.
Requirements
- Experience in hardware engineering, infrastructure engineering, data centre operations, or a similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of server, storage, networking, and IT infrastructure technologies.
- Experience with hardware installation, structured cabling, asset management, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Full UK driving licence and valid passport.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally, including occasional overnight stays and out-of-hours work.
- Ability to pass BS7858 screening and obtain/hold UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Experience within data centre environments, RAMS production, or team leadership would be highly advantageous.

Hours: 8:30-17:00 Monday to Friday
Salary: £30,000 to £37,500 DOE. With overtime availability.
