Site Reliability Engineer

Role: SRE / Application Support Engineer (DevOps & Production Support)

Location: London, UK (Hybrid 3 days)

Contract – Inside IR35

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced SRE / Application Support Engineer with strong DevOps and production support expertise to support critical financial applications within Mastercard. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in CI/CD, automation, observability, and supporting Java-based applications in complex production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide production and application run support for business-critical systems.

Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines.

Manage and enhance Jenkins pipelines, build orchestration, and integrations.

Support source code management and branching strategies using Git/BitBucket.

Automate operational processes using Chef, Shell scripting, or equivalent tools.

Monitor system health using observability platforms such as Splunk and Dynatrace.

Improve alerting quality, dashboards, and proactive anomaly detection capabilities.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Unix environments, middleware, databases, and applications.

Support Java-based applications running in virtualized environments and collaborate with development teams to drive reliability improvements.

Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Required Skills:

Strong experience in SRE, Application Support, or Production Support roles.

Hands-on expertise with Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

Experience with Git/BitBucket and code branching strategies.

Working knowledge of Chef and Shell scripting (Python is an advantage).

Strong Unix/Linux administration skills, including scripting and troubleshooting.

Experience supporting Java-based applications in production environments.

Understanding of virtualization technologies, VMs, and hypervisors.

Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or equivalent.

Knowledge of Oracle or equivalent database technologies.

Proven experience supporting production systems within the financial services domain.

Preferred Skills:

Exposure to SRE principles and reliability engineering practices.

Experience working within regulated environments such as banking or payments.

Familiarity with incident, problem, and change management processes.
