Role: Lead IT Engineer
Location: Hybrid (London) (3 days onsite/2 days WFH)
Salary: Up to £45,000-£65,000
Overview
A fast-growing tech-driven organisation is seeking a Lead IT Engineer to own its internal IT environment. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic oversight—driving stability, security and a seamless end-user experience while shaping future IT standards. You'll also mentor a junior team member and partner closely across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Endpoint & Device Management
- Own Windows device lifecycle, standard builds, compliance and Intune/Autopilot configuration.
- Oversee onboarding/offboarding, asset tracking and hardware planning.
Security & Compliance
- Lead patching, security baselines, AV/EDR and endpoint protection.
- Support incident response and maintain compliance with internal policies.
Microsoft 365 & Cloud
- Manage identity, user access, MFA, licensing and conditional access in Microsoft 365.
- Support a small Azure environment (VMs, networking, storage).
Operational IT Support
- Act as senior point of escalation, solving issues efficiently and improving documentation.
- Identify recurring problems and implement long-term fixes.
Automation & Process Improvement
- Use PowerShell to automate tasks and streamline workflows.
- Maintain accurate asset, licensing and inventory records.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with engineering, security, people and finance teams to support business needs.
- Assist in audits, compliance tasks and vendor engagement.
Leadership
- Guide and support a junior engineer.
- Promote a dependable, high-quality IT experience for all users.
