AWS DevOps Engineer - Contract (SC Cleared)

Rate: £575 p/day Inside IR35

Duration: 4-5 months initially with high likelihood of extension

Start: ASAP (pending clearance transfer)

Location: Home-based with occasional London site visits

Clearance: Active SC required

Overview
An opportunity for an experienced Principal AWS DevOps Engineer to lead the design and optimisation of large-scale cloud and DevOps environments within a secure, high-impact programme with the Home Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and automation of scalable AWS infrastructure

  • Build and optimise enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines

  • Provide technical leadership across DevOps best practices

  • Influence architecture and drive continuous improvement

  • Mentor engineers and support incident resolution

Key Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years AWS engineering across large, mission-critical platforms

  • Strong IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK)

  • Advanced CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline)

  • Containers & orchestration (Docker, EKS/ECS)

  • Linux/Windows, networking, monitoring & observability

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience supporting Java-based platforms

Nice to Have

  • AWS certifications

  • Chef/Puppet/Ansible

  • Enterprise Cloud Landing Zone experience
