Levels: Consultant / Senior Consultant (Two levels available)
Location: Newcastle (Cobalt Business Park)
Salary: up to £45,000 (Consultant) / up to £55,000 (Senior Consultant)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the Newcastle office

About the Role
Our client is a global technology and consulting organisation with a strong engineering and delivery culture. They partner with major enterprises and public sector organisations to design, build and scale modern digital platforms.
They are growing their Newcastle delivery hub and are hiring Technical Business Analysts at two levels: Consultant (up to £45k) and Senior Consultant (up to £60k).
This role sits within a software delivery team, acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and engineering teams. You will translate complex business problems into clear technical requirements, helping teams deliver solutions that align with user needs, technical constraints and organisational goals.
The environment is delivery-focused, collaborative and highly technical. You will work alongside architects, developers, UX designers and testers across the full software development lifecycle.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as the link between business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Eliciting, analysing and documenting business and technical requirements.
- Translating requirements into user stories, functional specifications and backlog items.
- Creating process flows, sequence diagrams and functional designs to support development teams.
- Supporting Agile delivery through sprint planning, backlog refinement and stand-ups.
- Working closely with architects and developers to shape practical technical solutions.
- Conducting business impact assessments across multiple business areas.
- Supporting testing by reviewing test scripts, triaging defects and answering queries.
- Analysing datasets using SQL to validate requirements and identify insights.
- Supporting large programme implementations and ensuring operational readiness.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, DevOps, UX designers and product owners.
At Senior Consultant level, you may also:
- Lead requirements workshops with clients.
- Shape solution design with technical and solution architects.
- Coach junior Business Analysts.
- Lead elements of business change and stakeholder engagement.
Ideal Background
- 1.5–5+ years experience as a Business Analyst within a technology or software delivery environment.
- Experience translating business needs into technical requirements and user stories.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban) or traditional Waterfall environments.
- Experience working with cross-functional technology teams.
- Practical experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio or Excel.
- Experience modelling processes using UML, BPMN or Design Thinking techniques.
- Strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation.
- Understanding of APIs, system integrations and databases.
- Experience working on digital transformation or software delivery projects.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Salesforce) or modern enterprise platforms is beneficial.
- Experience working within the public sector is advantageous.
