Technical Business Analyst
Location: Newcastle (Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite)
Salary: Up to £55,000 + bonus
NOTE: Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC). This typically requires five years of continuous UK address history at the point of application.
This role requires a commercially astute analyst who can operate confidently at the intersection of business and technology, translating strategic objectives into well-defined technical requirements that enable effective delivery.
You will act as the conduit between stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring business needs are accurately captured, analysed and translated into actionable artefacts that guide development and testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Eliciting, analysing and documenting business and system requirements across multiple workstreams
- Producing high-quality artefacts including functional specifications, process models (BPMN/UML), sequence diagrams, business rules catalogues and user stories
- Performing business impact assessments to evaluate change across operational areas
- Supporting large-scale implementations and ensuring operational readiness
- Leading business change activities, including communications and training planning
- Supporting test phases through script reviews, defect triage and clarifications
- Collaborating closely with developers, architects, UX/UI, DevOps and test teams
- Participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement and stand-ups
- Identifying technical constraints, risks and dependencies early in the lifecycle
- Supporting backlog prioritisation based on value, risk and technical feasibility
Required Experience
- Minimum 3+ years’ commercial experience as a Business Analyst within software delivery or technology environments
- Experience operating in customer-facing environments with the ability to work independently
- Strong requirements elicitation and stakeholder engagement capability
- Demonstrable experience across Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and/or Waterfall methodologies
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation and analysis
- Ability to analyse large datasets to validate requirements and identify data quality issues
- Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio and Excel
- Practical understanding of APIs, databases and system integration concepts
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, architects and product owners
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to enterprise platforms and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Salesforce)
- Familiarity with UX principles and wireframing tools (e.g. Figma, Balsamiq)
- Experience delivering change within Public Sector environments
- Professional Business Analysis certification
