This Senior Security Architect role offers the opportunity to lead the design and delivery of Microsoft 365 security architectures at enterprise scale, working alongside highly skilled architects, engineers, and delivery specialists.

The Role – Senior Security Architect:

The Senior Security Architect role is responsible for defining, designing, and assuring Microsoft 365 security solutions across complex customer environments. As a Senior Security Architect, you will take ownership of security architecture covering identity, collaboration, endpoint, and information protection services within the M365 ecosystem.

This Senior Security Architect role operates within Agile delivery teams, ensuring M365 security is embedded by design across projects from discovery through to live service. The Senior Security Architect will also provide technical leadership and mentoring to security specialists and delivery teams.

This role is well suited to a Senior Security Architect who specialises in M365 Security, enjoys solving complex problems, and is comfortable operating in regulated, mission-critical environments.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Senior Security Architect:

As a Senior Security Architect, you will:

• Lead the secure design of Microsoft 365 tenant architectures
• Define security controls across Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
• Design and implement identity, access, and authentication patterns, including Conditional Access and Zero Trust
• Architect information protection and data loss prevention (DLP) solutions within M365
• Design secure endpoint and device management solutions using Intune
• Embed security best practices across the M365 lifecycle, from onboarding to optimisation
• Act as the M365 security authority within delivery teams
• Mentor and coach junior security and platform specialists
• Engage in continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing

Key Responsibilities:

• Design secure, scalable Microsoft 365 security architectures aligned with organisational strategy
• Apply Zero Trust and secure-by-design principles across identity, devices, and data
• Ensure alignment with security standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. NCSC, ISO, NIST, GDPR)
• Identify security risks within M365 configurations and recommend pragmatic mitigations
• Support security monitoring, logging, and incident response within the M365 ecosystem
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate security requirements into working solutions
• Produce clear architecture documentation and security guidance
• Provide technical leadership across M365 security delivery

Key Requirements:

The successful Senior Security Architect will bring deep expertise in Microsoft 365 Security, combined with strong consultancy and communication skills.

You will have:

• Proven experience as a Senior Security Architect or M365 Security Architect
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365 security services, including:
• Entra ID (Azure AD) and identity governance
• Conditional Access, MFA, and Zero Trust architectures
• Microsoft Defender suite (Defender for Office 365, Endpoint, Identity, Cloud Apps)
• Information Protection, Sensitivity Labels, and DLP
• Intune and endpoint security
• Experience securing M365 in regulated or high-security environments
• Understanding of security standards and compliance requirements (e.g. NCSC, ISO, NIST, GDPR)
• Ability to balance usability, risk, and cost in M365 security design
• Experience working with Agile delivery teams
• Strong mentoring, coaching, and technical leadership capability
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
