Industry: Consulting (Public & Private Sector)

Salary: Up to £85,000 (Manchester) / £90,000k – £95,000 (London) + 10% sign-on bonus + car allowance

About the Role

Our client is a global consultancy operating at the sharp end of data and technology transformation. They’re delivering large-scale programmes across government and enterprise, and they need Data Architects who can lead from the front.

This is a high-impact role. You’ll define how organisations design, structure, and scale their data environments, not just contribute to it. You’ll sit between business and engineering, owning architecture decisions that directly affect critical systems and large-scale platforms.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Defining end-to-end data architecture across complex transformation programmes
  • Owning data strategy, migration, and integration approaches for client environments
  • Designing enterprise-level data models for both structured and unstructured data
  • Architecting solutions across distributed systems and microservices
  • Working across Azure and modern data platforms to deliver scalable solutions
  • Setting architectural standards and ensuring they are followed in delivery
  • Acting as the technical authority across programmes
  • Engaging senior stakeholders and translating technical decisions into business value
  • Line managing, mentoring, and developing engineers and junior architects

Ideal Background

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or a Senior Data Engineer stepping into architecture
  • Strong track record in data strategy, modelling, and architecture design
  • Hands-on capability with Python, Java or Scala when required
  • Experience with Big Data technologies and modern data platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services
  • Experience designing within microservices architectures
  • Solid understanding of REST services and system design principles
  • Experience working in client-facing or consulting environments

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary with clear London vs Manchester banding
  • 10% sign-on bonus and car allowance
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile, mission-critical programmes
  • Clear progression into senior architecture and leadership roles
  • Exposure to both public sector and enterprise-scale transformations

Clearance Requirement

This role requires eligibility for SC clearance, which typically means:

  • 5 years continuous UK address history
  • No extended periods outside the UK
  • Ability to meet government security vetting standards

Who This Role Suits

  • Data Architects who want to step into larger, more complex programmes
  • Senior engineers ready to move into architecture with real ownership
  • Individuals comfortable operating in fast-paced, client-facing environments
  • People who want to influence how organisations use data at scale

If you want to move beyond implementation and start owning data strategy at enterprise level, this is that move.
