Data Engineer (AWS)

Newcastle – 3 days onsite

£45,000 – £55,000 + bonus

An established technology consultancy is hiring a Data Engineer to support the delivery of secure, scalable data platforms across major public sector and enterprise programmes.

You must be eligible for Security Clearance which requires you to have lived in the UK for 5 years continuously.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines
• Developing data services primarily in Java, with exposure to Python
• Building and supporting real time, event driven pipelines using Kafka, Flink, or Spark
• Integrating data from multiple sources via APIs, streaming platforms, and batch ingestion
• Using AWS managed services
• Deploying and maintaining data platforms using CI/CD pipelines
• Managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
• Working with Docker and Kubernetes
• Operating in agile delivery teams

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong programming experience in Java or Python
• Experience building ETL / ELT or streaming data pipelines
• Hands on experience with Kafka, Flink, or Spark
• Experience with AWS
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and software engineering best practices
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code
• Containerisation experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong understanding of agile delivery

The Package:

• £45,000 – £55,000 base salary
