AWS DevOps Engineer

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid, 3 days a week onsite)

Salary: Up to £60,000 (depending on experience) + 10% bonus

NOTE: You must be eligible for UK Security Clearance to be considered for this opportunity.

We are recruiting for a DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing technology delivery environment in Newcastle. This is a hybrid opportunity offering exposure to large-scale, complex programmes across both private and public sector domains.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will work within a collaborative Scrum-based environment, supporting development teams by delivering scalable, automated, and resilient infrastructure solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • AWS platform focus
  • Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous integration and deployment
  • Automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Configuring and maintaining DevOps tooling ecosystems
  • Supporting automated testing strategies including performance, security, and resilience testing
  • Implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
  • Managing Linux-based environments and cloud infrastructure
  • Supporting API integrations and serverless architectures

You will contribute to improving delivery velocity, reliability, and quality across engineering teams.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of commercial AWS DevOps experience
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD principles with hands-on experience in tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, CodeBuild or similar
  • Commercial experience with Linux, and administering Linux-based systems
  • Infrastructure as Code experience using CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform, or Ansible
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, Prometheus, Kibana, or AppDynamics
  • Scripting experience in at least one language such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Node.js, or TypeScript
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and integrating them into DevOps workflows
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean delivery methodologies

Desirable

  • Exposure to introducing DevOps practices into new or evolving projects
  • Experience contributing to technical design or architecture discussions
  • Virtual networking or performance testing experience
