FinOps Specialist – Cloud Cost Optimisation (AWS)

Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 + Package

Location: London (hybrid)

We are looking for a FinOps Specialist to play a key role in helping organisations unlock the full value of their cloud investments. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, finance, and strategy within highly secure and complex environments.

The Role:

As a FinOps Specialist, you will advise a large and growing business unit on how to optimise cloud-based capabilities for both cost and performance. You will operate across both strategic and technical levels—guiding stakeholders on FinOps best practices while collaborating closely with architects and engineering teams to embed cost efficiency into solution design from the outset.

With many customers at the early stages of their cloud journey, you will have the opportunity to shape FinOps strategies, influence adoption, and deliver tangible financial and operational value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the adoption and application of FinOps principles to improve cloud efficiency and cost transparency
• Advise on AWS cost optimisation strategies, including pricing models and cost management tooling
• Collaborate with product architects and engineering teams to design cost-efficient, scalable cloud solutions
• Engage with senior stakeholders to align cloud spend with business objectives
• Develop compelling business cases for optimisation initiatives using data-driven insights
• Support the development and positioning of FinOps offerings and value propositions
• Champion a culture of cost awareness and accountability across teams

About You

You will bring experience across several of the following areas:

• Applying FinOps principles within large-scale cloud environments
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, pricing models, and cost optimisation techniques
• Experience advising on cloud architecture with a focus on cost efficiency
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience building business cases supported by robust financial analysis
• Familiarity with regulated or government environments (desirable)

• This role requires eligibility for Security Clearance
• You must be willing to undergo the clearance process if not already cleared
