The Role

Hiring for a Software Development Team Lead to join a high-performing engineering team based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This role sits within a newly created venture operating across management consulting and global investment management, building technology solutions that solve complex, high-value problems.

You’ll combine hands-on software development with technical leadership, guiding a team of talented engineers while remaining directly involved in building and delivering production systems.

You will work closely with developers, stakeholders, and domain experts to design pragmatic solutions, deliver high-quality software, and drive innovation in a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading and mentoring a team of software developers

• Providing technical guidance while fostering a collaborative environment

• Engaging with users and stakeholders to understand requirements

• Designing and delivering pragmatic technical solutions

• Owning end-to-end software delivery from design to deployment

• Working closely with client teams to deliver products collaboratively

• Challenging existing systems and processes through innovation

• Staying up to date with industry and technology trends

Core technical requirements

• Strong programming skills in C#/.NET, Java, Rust, or Python

• Experience delivering production software systems

• Ability to own projects from concept through delivery

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• 2:1 degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline

Nice to have (not essential)

• Experience leading or mentoring developers

• Exposure to financial services or capital markets

• Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders

• Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for innovation
