Platform Technical Architect - AWS

Location: Remote first (travel to client site)

Salary: Up to £100,000 + 5% bonus + excellent benefits

As a Platform Technical Architect, you'll take a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality cloud solutions. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with architectural leadership, working with cutting-edge technologies to solve complex challenges that have real impact.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, and support of modern digital platforms on AWS and Azure.
  • Collaborate with engineers, testers, consultants, and security specialists to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, making transparent and reasoned decisions while guiding teams through complex projects.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and apply them to maximise user and business benefit.
  • Coach and mentor engineers, helping to foster a DevOps culture and support career growth.
  • Act as a respected voice within the business, sharing knowledge and contributing to thought leadership.
  • Support pre-sales and business development by shaping proposals and advising clients.

 

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong background in cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), including SaaS and PaaS.
  • Expertise in designing, automating, monitoring, and supporting production digital service platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools (Terraform, Bash, Python, Go, Ruby, Groovy, or Powershell).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Continuous Delivery practices.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership in delivery projects, with experience coaching and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Eligible for SC Clearance.

 

Desirable:

  • Public cloud certifications (AWS / Azure).
  • Specialisation certifications (e.g. Kubernetes CKAD).
  • Experience with cloud-native tooling and approaches.
  • Active participation in technical communities of practice.
