We're supporting a leading digital transformation consultancy in the search for an experienced Product Consultant to join a major digital transformation programme with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering user-centred digital services that support millions of people across the UK. Working within an Agile, multidisciplinary team, you'll help shape product direction, engage with stakeholders and ensure delivery teams have a well-defined, prioritised backlog.
The Role
As a Product Consultant, you'll own product features from discovery through to delivery, working closely with clients, developers, architects and designers to deliver high-quality digital products.
You'll facilitate workshops, gather and refine requirements, write user stories, prioritise backlogs and champion MVP thinking to maximise value throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage product backlogs throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Gather, analyse and document functional and non-functional requirements.
- Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops and discovery sessions.
- Lead backlog refinement and support Agile ceremonies.
- Prioritise features and manage dependencies across delivery teams.
- Define and manage Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects and designers to deliver user-centred solutions.
- Contribute to planning sessions and continuous product improvement.
Required Experience
- Experience working as a Product Consultant, Product Owner or Agile Business Analyst.
- Strong background delivering digital products within Agile environments.
- Proven experience managing and prioritising product backlogs.
- Excellent workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong requirements gathering and user story writing experience.
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience working closely with software engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Consultancy or client-facing delivery experience is highly desirable.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering digital transformation programmes within the UK public sector.
- Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) principles.
- Experience working with central government organisations such as the DVSA, DfT or other public sector bodies.
- Exposure to pre-sales or bid support activities.
- Technical awareness of modern software delivery practices.
